Rhine Falls boat tour at a glance
The boats of the Rhine Falls leave from Schlössli Wörth on the north bank and from the landing at Schloss Laufen on the south bank. A rhine falls cruise in the basin lets you see the water wall from below, and the rock boat adds a stop on the rock in the middle. Boat operators work separately from the castle, so a boat ride is booked as its own ticket. Prices here are operator facts and not offers of this site.
A rhine falls boat ride is a good choice if you want to see the falls from the water, but it depends on season and weather. The Rhine Falls tickets page lists the castle fees and the opening hours, and the overview covers both banks.
Our picks: Rhine Falls boat trips
Our take: the 30-minute line 3A tour is the direct choice at the falls. The cruise ticket with audio guide starts at Schlössli Wörth, and the private Zurich day adds the Old Town. None of them promises a landing at the rock.
Hand-picked tours, booked through GetYourGuide and Viator. Prices are indicative starting prices in Swiss francs (as of October 2026). Tap a tour for live availability and the current price in your currency.

Boat ride prices
Operator prices as published, "from" prices.
| Ride | Duration | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Rock boat | 30 minutes | From CHF 22.50 per person, ferry included |
| Short round trip | 15 minutes | From CHF 10.50 per person, online offer with ferry |
| Audio round trip | 30 minutes | Check the operator's ticket overview |
| Crossing | About 5 minutes | From CHF 6 per person |
The crossing joins Wörth and Schloss Laufen and is its own ticket category. Reduced rates for schools and students are group prices and not a general discount. One cruise ticket listed on this page starts at the landing at Schlössli Wörth, lasts 30 minutes and includes an audio guide. Be at the landing at least 10 minutes before departure.
A separate 30-minute boat tour on the line called 3A is listed as a ticket only. It does not land at the rock, and from Schloss Laufen the crossing is booked on its own.
Rock boat to the middle rock
The rock boat is an operator offer that starts in Wörth. The pure boat ride takes about 10 minutes and the stay on the rock about 20 minutes. Up on the rock you climb more than 100 steps and about 30 m of height. The operator does not recommend it if you have trouble walking or climbing stairs, and dogs are not allowed. The rock is reached only by boat, because the way up is part of the boat ride.
Children under 6 ride for free without their own seat, but you add their ticket when you book. The ticket is valid for the date and departure time you pick, and the operator offers no exchange or refund. Arrive at the Wörth landing at least 10 minutes early, at Schloss Laufen 20 minutes early. None of the tours listed on this page goes to the rock, so book the rock boat with the operator.

Boat season 2026
Season plan as of 25 August 2026.
| Period | Operation |
|---|---|
| 1 May to 30 September 2026 | Daily 09:30 to 18:30 |
| 1 to 18 October 2026 | Daily 09:30 to 17:00 |
| 19 October to 1 November 2026 | Daily 11:00 to 17:00 |
| 2 to 29 November 2026 | Saturday and Sunday limited 11:00 to 16:00, charter on request Monday to Friday |
| 24 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 | Operating break |
These are general operating windows and not a promise for each departure. Weather, season and demand affect availability, although the operator plans for rain. Do not count on a winter rock boat ride. The operator publishes no fixed high-water limit, so ask before you travel after heavy rain. In winter, charter on request is the realistic option on weekdays.
Combined ticket and other tips
Smilestones, passes and the boat to Stein am Rhein.
A combined ticket from another provider joins Smilestones with a 30-minute boat ride, at CHF 29 for adults from 16 and CHF 17 for children aged 6 to 15. It is not the same as the rock boat. If you hold a Swiss Pass, check before you travel whether your pass covers the ride.
The scheduled boat from Schaffhausen to Stein am Rhein is a different trip on the river upstream. It is covered on our Stein am Rhein page.
