Rhine Falls private tour: why going private pays off here
A Rhine Falls private tour solves a problem that is specific to this waterfall. The basin at Schlössli Wörth on the north bank is free, the Schloss Laufen platforms on the south bank cost CHF 5 for adults, and boats are sold separately. On a private day your driver-guide links these pieces, and some tours bundle the falls admission or the boat so you pay once.
Prices are starting prices from November 2026 in Swiss francs.

Six private days, from a four-hour half day to a nine-hour trip through three towns.
Private tour from Zurich: half days with the falls
The private half day with Schaffhausen takes four hours in a private van with one guide for the whole trip. You see the Rhine Falls viewing platforms, drive through Schaffhausen's old town and have free time at the falls. At CHF 199 per person it suits a couple who want a compact morning. The boat ride is extra, at roughly CHF 10 to 15 each.
The Stein am Rhein tour with a local also takes four hours and starts with hotel pickup and drop-off. At CHF 395 per person it is the pricier half day, and the boat (CHF 10) and Schloss Laufen (CHF 5) are paid on top.
The Laufen Castle tour runs five hours and lists falls admission, parking, bottled water and an air-conditioned vehicle, with a driver-guide in English or German. It is priced per group: CHF 650 for up to four. Four people pay CHF 162.50 each, three CHF 216.70 and two CHF 325. Only the boat ride is extra.
Private Rhine Falls tour with Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen
The nine-hour private tour is the long option: Zurich highlights, Schaffhausen with the Munot fortress, the falls and Stein am Rhein, with a private driver-guide. At CHF 150 per person it is the lowest price on this page, and lunch and any boat fee are extra. The Munot is free during opening hours but steep, with a 15 % climb on its spiral ramp, so it is not step-free.
The Rheinau tour takes six hours and adds the small island of Rheinau and the medieval centre of Stein am Rhein, plus a boat ride at the falls, Wi-Fi and mineral water on board. The price is CHF 590 for up to three people: CHF 196.70 each for three, CHF 295 each for two.
Zurich old town and the falls in six hours
If you want the city and the falls in one day, the six-hour tour opens with a guided walk through Zurich's old town and the Grossmünster, then drives through the countryside to the falls viewpoints and includes a boat trip. It costs CHF 350 per person.
Small group instead of private: when to share
If you only want to see the falls, a shared trip is hard to beat. The 4.5-hour small-group trip from Zurich with falls tickets costs CHF 49 per person, so a family of four pays CHF 196 against CHF 650 for the private castle tour. The eight-hour small-group day with Lindt chocolate and Stein am Rhein costs CHF 105 per person. Go private when you want pickup at your hotel or a day that fits your group. Our Rhine Falls tours page compares the group options.
